The society held their first young stock show on 12th of March at Lock Lane Community Centre Castleford

Guest judge was Dave Critchlow who did a fantastic job judging the birds.

The meeting was well attended but there could have been a lot more birds benched.

Dave placed the following awards

 Best Champion/Intermediate   Roy Tickle with a Pied

Best Beginner/Novice Ian Olbison with a sky blue

Best in show was awarded to Roy Tickle

Castleford B.S December meeting. Xmas party and presentation night

The December meeting of Castleford B,S was the members shows trophy presentation night combined with a social pie and pea supper.

Special guests and members enjoyed a relaxed and entertaining evening. The night started with the presidents budgie bingo with some fantastic prizes (and some more risky adult prises) to be won. The president Paul Greenwood did a great job calling the numbers and made the night the success that it was.

Delicious pie and peas were served thanks to Margret Tickle followed with the traditional mince pie. Once every one was full the trophy presentation started president Paul Greenwood joined by Ian Olbison the members show secretary awarded the following awards,

Best Beginner A/A and Best Beginner Y/B — Peter Ward Best Novice A/A — Ian Olbison

Best Novice Y/B — Graham Rudd

Best Intermediate A/A and Y/B — Paul Greenwood Best Champion A/A and Y/B — Roy Tickle

Most points A/A — Roy Tickle

Most points Y/B — Paul Greenwood.

Castleford B,S held a colour night for Pied's and Spangles (may meeting)

Roy Townsend placed the following awards

 

Best Beg/Nov awarded to Peter Ward

Peter benched a lovely buff Dominant Pied young bird. Peter is a name to watch out for over the coming show season.

 Best Inter/Champ awarded to Roy Tickle

Roy benched a fantastic dominant pied any age bird was shown in perfect condition and this bird went on to win the Best in Show award.

The show was judged by the YBS president Fred Kennedy this was Fred’s first judging engagement and did a great job in placing the following awards

Peter Ward took the best in show award with a large Grey Green cock that was shown well but took a little time to settle on the perch.

Congratulations to Peter for winning his first CC award at York BS open show.

The open show was a very big success and was well organised.

Congratulations to all the winners but especially to are very own president Ray Steele on winning the best in show award (one of many at this years open shows)
